When the World Stayed Home. This book was written during New Zealand's lockdown at Level 4&3 in March 2020 and is illustrated by NZ children.
I am an art teacher and over the initial lockdown in March 2020 I recognised an opportunity.
I wanted to know how kiwi children felt about the situation.
After issuing a call on social media, I was inundated with art works from children across New Zealand (most whom I'd never met before).
This project allowed children to express how they were feeling .
Both their anxieties and it was also a chance to celebrate the good bits too.
These artworks were published into a book , woven into a story that captures Anzac Day, Easter, Mothers Day, Birthdays and Commonly used phrases such as Bubble worlds, Social and Physical distancing .
This precious collection of artworks is a limited edition print run of which there are only bout 80 books left.
This one book is extra especial as it is signed by Lucy Edwards a 10 year old from Ashburton whose artwork was chosen last year to be the front cover. It's also signed by myself and by Mike King who is the ambassador for The Key To Life Trust - IamHope - This book with 3 signatures is up for auction on TRADEME, the auction closes at 9.30pm Sunday night .
100% proceeds will also go to I AM Hope trust.
It is a wonderful project that will benefit youth mental health. Please follow the link below for more details….
