Through art we have learnt about social enterprise business , using our skill to benefit others, we understood the business model behind our product to ensure we made enough money to be able to give to the organisation. We visited the gorillas at Orana Park to see them up close . We have learnt about an endangered species and the people working tirelessly to bring them back from near extinction. What a powerful tool art can be - Corina Hazlett tutor

Our Friday homeschool art class , (The Friday Club), had a wonderful visit from Rangiora Vet clinics Ben Davidson today .

Ben talked to the children about his work as a vet at Orana Park and his work with the endangered mountain gorillas in Uganda.

Over the term these young artists had their artworks printed onto T-shirt's which were then sold with a percentage from each sale helping to save Mountain Gorillas .

Ben Davidson , is Orana parks main vet for the gorillas. Ben has also been working with the mountain gorillas of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. - with an organisation called Conservation through public health .

The money raised from this project has gone to Ben for this organisation which so far has reached $300.

Thanks Ben for coming to talk to us . It was inspirational .

The gorilla tees and hoodies can still be purchased on line from this link click here
