This was my entry , I'm not sure how it went but I have to say that this creative project did push me out of my comfort zone. I'm not a ruler personality , I don't measure , I just do everything by eye .
The brief was to study the architect Andrew Lloyd Wright . To find inspiration in the colours, textures and patterns of Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home , Taliesin West. A UNESCO world heritage site nestled in the desert foothills of the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, Arizona .
I think that I studied him in 6th form art history, however due to a teenage frontal lobe malfunction (a lack of ability to understand or want to learn anything much at all ) I didn't take in the magnificent genius that was this man .
Taliesin West currently serves as the home of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and school of Architecture.
In my artwork I have used rich golds to represent the deep connection to the desert and rugged mountains from which Taliesen West was forged .
Wrights philosophy was always that landscape should come first and Architecture should respond so I have tried to follow these principals.
The artwork deisgn as shown here as a 100% silk tie.
As always sales from my VIDA store has a wider social impact in that every sale provides literacy programs to VIDAs makers .
